Disaster Recovery - Resolve to do THIS

I would like to start this blog off by saying Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and best wishes to everyone out there celebrating a Festive Holiday this Season!  It’s been a couple of busy and chaotic weeks as we wound up the Holiday season last week and return to some sort of “normalcy” this week in Western Massachusetts. 

How many of you have made a New Year’s Resolution?  How many of you plan events for the coming year?  When will I take that vacation?  Will we have a Memorial Day Party, July 4^th Party, etc.?  How many of you have PLANNED in the event of a disaster such as a fire damage or water damage?  Where and when did you buy that nice big flat screen TV?  How much did you pay for it?  How much will it cost to replace?  Is there a sound system with it?  How many CD’s, DVD’s and such do you have stored near it?  These are very real questions that need answering after a fire or water damage event.

NOW, THIS WEEKEND, anytime soon.  Take a moment to walk through your house with your smart phone on video.  Speak to yourself, room by room.  What do you see?  What’s new?  What’s valuable?  Where did I get it?  Take an inventory of your home, room by room.  Save that somewhere on your cloud or wherever (NOT IN YOUR HOME).  In the event of a “disaster” (anything that alters your normal life adversely) you will have a record of what you own and a history.  It’s too easy now to do this, and it only takes talking to yourself a bit.
