Restoring Commercial Water Damage In Northampton

Commercial Water Damage
Nearly any damage cost to a Northampton business is double to that of a home disaster, if not more. Costs take into account, not just repair and restoration, but also the lost income each day due to the business having to close its doors.
In Northampton, commercial water damage to a small, retail store can mean the loss of income for a week. Unless that store has a good insurance policy behind it, SERVPRO understands that could mean a loss of paychecks for every employee that week and maybe the next one as well. It is our task to get the doors open as soon as possible, to avoid this.
A small, retail operation can still have an extensive inventory of goods. That means our technicians use a variety of tools to preserve the inventory as well as clean and restore the structure itself. To perform both tasks, our primary goals are to remove water and then dry out the interior of the shop.
Standing water is not a safe environment for the business owner, customers, or our SERVPRO technicians. In case of an electrical issue, we turn off the power and then bring in not just pumps and extraction wands, but portable generators as well. We use the pumps when the water is over 2 or 3 inches deep. The extraction wands we use for water under 2 inches or about ankle deep. Technicians also use the wands to draw water from carpets and wood floors.
Once we have the water down to several, isolated puddles, we begin setting up the equipment to dry the interior and help prevent further property loss. That means lowering the inside humidity and drying the actual structure without causing any secondary damage. We start with dehumidifiers which draw moisture from the air and nearby structural and inventory property. Depending on how much moisture is present, each of these machines can remove from 20 to 25 gallons of water each day.
Next, we set up air movers. These devices blow warm, dry air that we direct over floors, walls, and other property to speed up the drying process without causing additional damage. Technicians also set up exhaust fans to draw out the damp air inside. They help improve the function of both the air movers and dehumidifiers.
Restoring a business after water damage is not a quick process, but it is one that SERVPRO of Hampshire County has been doing for over two decades. If you need our help, call us at (413) 324-1300 today. We are here to help.
